Life Sciences Building

Life Sciences Building, Cardiff

The new six-storey Life Sciences Building on Museum Avenue, represents an investment of more than £14 million, providing outstanding new facilities for scientists battling against conditions such as cancer and cystic fibrosis, Alzheimer’s, arthritis; and vector-borne diseases such as malaria. The building was funded by the Funding Council for Wales, the Science Research Investment Fund, the Wellcome Trust, and Cardiff University.

Cancer Research Centre

Cancer Research UK - Cambridge

Her Majesty the Queen opened the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Research Institute on 2nd February 2007. The Centre will be known as the Li Ka Shing Centre after the Chairman of Hutchinson Whampoa Ltd, Sir Ka-Shing Li. More than 300 scientists in up to twenty research groups will be based at the institute. Research will cover the genetics of breast cancer, cell biology, imaging and experimental medicine.

Birmingham Super Hospital

Birmingham Super Hospital

The Birmingham Super Hospital is a hospital under construction and due to be completed by summer 2010 at a cost of over £690 million. The hospital will replace the Selly Oak Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
