BBC Media City UK – Phase 1

Overview

Pipe Solutions have been working with a number of building services contractors to deliver Phase 1 of MediaCityUK, located at Salford Quays, Manchester.

Phase 1 work has included:-

Three buildings for the BBC, all designed by Wilkinson Eyre, from which such iconic programmes as Match of the Day, Blue Peter, Mastermind and BBC Breakfast will be broadcast;250,000 square feet of high definition studios, including the largest HD studio in Western Europe (according to developers Peel Media), and one dedicated to the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra;The 218 bed, 16-storey, Holiday Inn Hotel;A new campus for media related studies at the University of Salford; this will provide accommodation for over 1500 students and staff.
